depart

常用用法

depart作爲不及物動詞,基本意思是“離開,動身,出發”,指離開或偏離原來的位置,多指火車、汽車、輪船和飛機等,按行車〔船〕時刻表中所槼定的時間“離開”,也可指離開某人或離開某種境況。
depart除幾個習語外,極少用作及物動詞。
短語depart from可作“背離”“不按照”“不遵守”“不按…行事”解。
depart不可用作“(互相)分別”解。

這兩個詞的共同意思是“離開”。其區別是：
1.用作及物動詞時, leave爲普通用語,表示“離開某地”“退出學校〔社團〕”“辤去職務”等;而depart表示“離開人間”。例如:
He wanted to go to the toilet, and asked if he could leave the room.他想上厠所,便問是否可以離開這個房間。
He departed his life.他離開了人世。
2.用作不及物動詞時, leave常附帶說明離開時所使用的交通工具;depart強調運動的出發點,指按計劃開出或起程,尤指火車按時刻表出發。例如:
I'm leaving England and going to live in Spain by airplane.我將乘飛機離開英國去西班牙定居。
The train departs at 7：30.這列火車上午 7：30 開出。
3.depart常與from搭配使用。例如:
The train to Beijing will depart from platform 6 in five minutes.開往北京的火車將於五分鍾後從六號站台開出。
