a delegate to the Democratic National Convention or the Republican National Convention who has not been elected , usually one who has been given the position because they are a party leader or an official . Superdelegates are free to vote for whichever candidate they want , unlike elected delegates , who have to vote for the candidate selected by the voters in their state .
